The Power of Prayer

For six years I struggled to find peace with a particular situation in my life. I cried about. I complained about it. I tried to fix it. I consulted others about it. After years of fighting, I realized that I nor anyone else had the power to change this particular situation — only God had the power to do so. It wasn’t until I turned my situation over to God and let Him be God, that I began to see His hands at work in my life regarding that situation. I remember being so broken by the situation, that I cried out to God in surrender, “God, I need you to step in. Let your will be done in this situation. And if it doesn’t turn out the way I want it to, Lord, please give me peace about it and help me to move on.” As I write this, I am reminded of the scripture 2 Corinthians 12:9 where Jesus says,

“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”

It was in my brokenness that God was able to step in with His power and mend the broken pieces of my heart. It didn’t happen over night, but over time I began to sense the peace of God which I had prayed for in reference to the situation. The situation hadn’t changed, but my perspective about it had changed because God had given me peace about it. My perspective regarding the situation also changed because I trusted God. I laid my problem at His feet, wiped my hands of it, and walked away believing that He had the power to change it. And I’m here to testify today that He did just that! God answered my prayer and changed my situation!

I wanted to share this with you today, to let you know that there is power in prayer and it truly does change things! Therefore, if there is something currently weighing on your heart or you’re simply believing God for something, I encourage you to pray about it. And once you’ve prayed about it, don’t worry about it…trust God (and His will) and know that He will go to work on your behalf. Here’s a scripture for you to meditate on as well,

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.  And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7

Be blessed,

Imanne
